Komyo means Light/Enlightened.
Reiki is a Japanese word. The Japanese words 霊氣 Reiki can be defined as a miraculous/mysterious, ethereal, transcendental and sacred energy of the universe, which sustains all life.
Reiki is the name, used by Usui Sensei for the energy of the Universe.
Reiki is not a special word in Japan. The word Reiki is ancient and a common noun in Japan, and may mean differently to the Japanese. Usui Sensei is not the only one who used the word Reiki. No one discovers or rediscovers the energy of the universe.
Reiki Ryoho (Healing Art/Method) is the healing art that originated in Japan. USUI Mikao Sensei attained enlightenment and a healing ability in 1922 at the age of 57 while fasting and meditating in the sacred mountain. This is the Reiki that we practice today and is NOT ancient. This is an amazing gift that Usui Sensei left us to heal ourselves and share with others.

True Healing
Reiki Ryoho (Healing Art/Method) has twofold purposes: healing and spiritual.
True healing happens when we become more aware, more conscious, and more mindful of our connection to our True Self/Divine Self.
Reiki is Divine Love. Reiki is the Art of Letting Go, the Art of Surrendering,

Shihan
Shihan (師範) is a Japanese term, often used in Japanese martial arts as an honorific title for expert or senior instructors.
Shihan in Komyo Reiki Kai is a teacher, a person who, while teaching, continues to learn something from his students. The Reiki teacher does not teach the student how to live; on the contrary, he helps him learn how to choose and then, the student has to undertake the path towards spiritual enlightenment himself.

The Teacher, Reiki, True Healing and You
The Teacher, Reiki, True Healing, and You
As we grow spiritually we evolve from. "Doing Reiki" to "Being Reiki." Being spiritual simply means that you are more aware, conscious. and more mindful of your Divine Self/True Self.
True healing comes from within. No one can truly heal you except you.
You choose your teacher and the teacher will choose you. The best teachers will not tell you what to do. Your teacher will show you the doorway to spiritual enlightenment but you must enter yourself.
During Reiju/Attunements, the Reiki Teacher awakens the healing power in your hands. There's Reiki within all of us. Self healing/self care is the foundation. True healing starts with you and then-family, friends, community, etc.

Hawayo Takata and Symbols - James Deacon
Hawayo Takata and Symbols
- James Deacon (www.aetw.org)
" Hawayo Takata Sensei taught that the Reiki symbols were sacred and are not shown to students who are not attuned. Her students were required to memorize the symbols and were not permitted to keep written copies of the symbols. Hawayo Takata believed that the symbols should be treated with respect, even the practice sheets used by students ...in her Reiki classes had to disposed of respectfully, rather than crumped up and dumped in a bin."
NOTE: Feel free to share your verified and/or updated information. With gratitude to James Deacon for his valuable contributions thus far to the Reiki community.
Thank you!
